Christmas lights switch on
Following the now annual tradition, Wolfreton’s Head Boy and Girl switched on the Christmas lights in Kirk Ella. As part of a celebration outside the Wheatsheaf, which saw the community gather together and children from St Andrews Primary School Choir sing carols, Olivia Young and Josh Whittingham had the honour of switching on the lights.
Olivia, 17, said ‘The choir from St Andrews School did so well, they learned a lot of carols. I’m very happy to be here, taking part in this event really makes us feel at the heart of the community.’
Josh, 17, added ‘It was an honour to be asked and a pleasure to take part in this event. It’s really put me in the Christmas mood. It’s exciting to be here, representing Wolfreton in the community.’
Councillor Doreen Kaye said ‘Following the success of previous years, we are delighted to be joined by the choir from St Andrews School and the Head Boy and Girl from Wolfreton who are performing the Christmas lights switch on. Thanks also to the Wheatsheaf for supporting the event and we wish everyone a Happy Christmas.’
